Marek “maro” Gryglewski

gryglewskiMarek “maro” Gryglewski, lives in Krakow, a man from Debniki upon the Vistula river, an individualist, a loner, he prefers a tent or a boat over a comfortable bed… He does not remember if he could walk before he could fish or the other way round… this was passed from the previous generation. His first trips? With a local bus with his grandpa – to the Skawinka, Tyniec upon the Vistula river. When the grandpa was not there anymore, there were long trips by ‘Iz’ motorbike hanged onto his uncle – to the Orawka, the San, the Pilica, the Raba, the Danube shoots.

He is in love with the Tylmanowa river – he keeps returning to this river and to its huchen. For the last 20 years he has been living and fishing abroad – in Sweden, Norway, Finland, the North Sea, the Indian ocean, the Baltic sea, Kattegat.

In 2004, he caught the biggest pike in Sweden. He is the Golden Ambassadeur – tester for products from Abu plant in Svängsta (2005-2006). The Swedish reporter for the Wedkarski Swiat magazine. He fishes wherever he may, with all possible methods, in all conditions and for all fish types. His motto: the worst day fishing is thousand times better than the best day at work!

Our guide fisheries

Kävlingean river (Sweden)

1mgOur main fishery is the Kävlingeån river. The river flowing in southern Skane, starts in the Vombsjö lake and ends in the sea close to Lomma bukten. Its total length amounts to about 35 km, including 16km from its source up the stream open for sport fishing and managed by the Angling Association. In this section, the river resembles a typical Polish Pomeranian river with an average width of 25-35m and a stable current.

The average depth is 2.0-4.0m although there are places 7m deep. The river has plenty of spots for fly fishing (from the bank or while floundering) and spots for boat fishing (the down, estuary water). There are also places fishable from boat only. The last section from Löddeköpinge to the estuary, is believed to be the best pike fishery in Sweden and one of the best ones in Europe. Records of 17-20kg are broken here. It does not happen every day, however, and specialists spend all days to hit another record.

The river is split by numerous shoots – they are remnants of water mills. They are an additional place of interest and a spot where you can try to catch record salmonid, both using fly fishing as well as spinning from the bank or the boat. The river is locally called Skane’s Amazon because of its wilderness. We fish here applying all methods (trolling is forbidden) and using all baits. While catching record pike, live bait is mainly used. In order to fish on private sections of the river, you must have the approval from their owners.

2mgThe best pike fishing time is winter although the time after the spawning is good as well. In the March-May period, depending on the weather, you may try to catch robust sander and perch (fish weighing 2kg do not surprise anyone), which are entering after the spawning from the bay, as well as whitefish, which are doing the same. Temporarily, carp, tench and roach occur here, while specimen catchers come here to look for record rudd.

The Kävlingeån river is not the only spot for fishing trips. Fishing from the bank or boat, we may go for: cod, garfish, mackerel and herring. Trolling is also possible to look for trout and salmon.
